Gibson County VINE Coverage
Tennessee's system is the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification service, often called Tennessee SAVIN and delivered through VINELink. TDOC describes it as free and confidential. It supports alerts by methods offered on the live record, which may include telephone, text, email, TTY, or an app. State help is available at 888-868-4631 around the clock.
The Tennessee launch material covers current TDOC offenders and says many Tennessee county jails use VINE. It does not publish a county-by-county guarantee. Gibson County Correctional Complex participation was not conclusively documented in the official research sweep as of August 1, 2026. For a Gibson-only booking, call the jail or Tennessee VINE support to confirm whether that record is feeding the system before treating a missing result as meaningful.
VINE does not replace every official source. A TDOC offender belongs in both VINE's current alert process and FOIL for the state record. A local detainee's legal release proof comes from the sheriff and court. Federal Bureau of Prisons custody is outside VINE, while immigration custody uses the ICE locator.
Search Gibson County VINE Records
A one-person search works best with the exact committed name or offender ID. Start at the national VINELink jurisdiction screen and choose Tennessee. Then choose the applicable offender or custody search. Similar names are common, so compare the agency, identifier, and other lawful details shown before opening the record or setting an alert.
- Open VINELink and select Tennessee as the jurisdiction.
- Choose the person or offender search offered by the live interface.
- Enter the exact name or offender ID and use available identifiers to narrow results.
- Open only the record that matches both the person and the custody agency.
- Read the displayed status and event date in the interface's exact words.
- If the result says released, save the agency and event details, then confirm the legal type with that agency.
A missing name does not prove release. It can reflect a spelling difference, an alias, a feed delay, county nonparticipation, transfer, an older event, or removal from the current system. Use the full Gibson County released-inmate search path when VINELink does not resolve the person.

The jurisdiction step matters because same-name counties and agencies can otherwise lead to a record outside Gibson County, Tennessee.
Gibson County VINE Result Fields
The Tennessee launch page does not promise a fixed set of released-person fields or a set historical retention period. The live record controls. Record the status, event wording, agency, and date exactly as displayed. Do not rewrite a transfer notice as release to the community or assume that a person remains searchable after release.

For a state case, FOIL may add status, location, offense, sentence, hearing, or release information. For a local Gibson case, ask the Correctional Complex for the booking and release record and the clerk for the court order. The record-owning office can explain whether the event was bond, sentence completion, court order, parole, or transfer.
Register Gibson County Release Alerts
Registration begins on the matched person's record, not from an unrelated general page. Select the notification control and choose among the channels the live Tennessee interface offers. Supply only the contact information needed for the selected channel. Keep account details and any confirmation code private.

Older VINE instructions often refer to a four-digit telephone PIN used to acknowledge an alert. The reviewed Tennessee sources do not require a universal PIN for every channel. Follow the live screen. If telephone registration asks for a PIN, select one as directed there and do not share it. Electronic channels may instead use an account, message, or link.
Register while the person is still visible when possible. VINELink is strongest for future changes. It is not designed as a complete archive for every person who left Gibson County custody in the past.
Verify Gibson County VINE Alerts
Save the event text, timestamp, and named agency when an alert arrives. Then ask that agency what the event legally means and where the person went. A county release can mean entry into the community, but it can also mean a handoff to TDOC, another county, BOP, ICE, or another authorized custodian. A current roster cannot answer that question after the name disappears.
If the alert names the Gibson County Correctional Complex, call 731-855-1121 and ask for the actual release date and time, type, and destination category. If it names TDOC, compare FOIL and request state sentence or release information when the public detail is unclear. A court order explains judicial authority, while the releasing agency records physical departure.
Note: Preserve the alert wording because the words release, transfer, discharge, and custody change do not establish the same event.
Gibson County Detainer Handoffs
TDOC Policy 511.03 creates a distinct Tennessee notification handoff. When a TDOC person leaves state custody on a Tennessee county detainer, the policy directs notification users to Tennessee SAVIN. That event can appear as release from TDOC even though the person enters county confinement. It is a change of custodian, not proof of freedom.
Ask which county received the person. Then search or contact that custodian and place any new notification registration on the record that now controls. This matters in Gibson because the Correctional Complex has housed both local prisoners and TDOC backup prisoners. The same building can contain people whose sentence and notification records belong to different systems.
Gibson County VINE Limits
VINE can lag or lack a participating record. It does not cover federal Bureau of Prisons releases, and the Tennessee source does not promise every Gibson booking. No alert can also result from an incomplete registration, wrong match, channel failure, or event outside the selected record. Call 888-868-4631 to check state-specific registration or coverage questions.
Use the source that owns the custody type. FOIL covers people currently or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. The sheriff and Gibson court file cover local jail events. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward, and ICE's official locator includes current detention and some recently released people for a limited window. VINE should complement these systems, not be used to erase their differences.

Gibson County Registry Difference
The TBI Sex Offender Registry is separate from VINE. It covers only people who have a legal duty to register. Its search can use a name, partial last name, alias, place, offender ID, registry status, or offense, with county and status filters. A detail may include a photograph, aliases, registry status, offense information, reported addresses, the registering agency, and reporting or update dates.
An active community record can help corroborate that a registrant is living under registry duties after release. It does not prove release for people outside that limited class. “Active” on the registry also must not be confused with current jail custody. TBI says registry data comes from registering agencies, is updated daily, and is assured only as of the day viewed. For a custody event, return to VINE and the releasing agency.
The registry has its own optional email alert for changes to registry information. That alert is not a VINE custody notification. Keep the two subscriptions distinct so a registry update is not mistaken for a jail release or transfer.
Missing Gibson County VINE Results
Start by checking spelling, aliases, offender ID, Tennessee jurisdiction, and the selected agency. Next confirm whether the Gibson County record feeds VINE. Search FOIL if the person may have a TDOC history, and contact the jail plus the court of origin for a local case. Absence from any one screen is not proof that the person left custody.
When the court record is the fallback, use the Gibson clerk for the court of origin. Tennessee's statewide Public Case History covers appellate courts, not the local General Sessions or Circuit criminal docket. Ask for the final disposition, sentence, bond or release order, and any later revocation or discharge document that bears on custody. The signed order explains legal authority, while the jail record supplies the actual departure time.
An older released person may no longer be visible in a live notification system. Request the existing booking/release record for the actual date, type, and destination. When the person entered another custodian's control, continue with that agency. This documented chain supplies stronger proof than a missing name or a notification that was never received.
